Middlesbrough's Citizens’ Code aims to encourage people to highlight the many positive things going on in the town as well as outline what local people expect of themselves and their fellow citizens.
As part of the code, Middlesbrough Council has revamped the current Citizen of the Year Award in order to highlight the many good things that go on in the town and in particular individual acts of good citizenship throughout the year.
People can be nominated for a one-off act of kindness or bravery or it could be for many hours of devotion to the benefit of the community.
The revamped Citizen of the Year Award invites you to nominate an individual who has gone the extra mile to make a difference for others.
Middlesbrough Council wants to hear from you about an unsung hero who has improved the quality of life in the town.
The Citizen of the Year will be a resident of the town but the council would still be very interested in hearing about people who live outside Middlesbrough but who carried out a commendable act whilst working in or visiting the town.
To nominate someone for their good citizenship and to find out more about the Citizens Code please visit www.middlesbrough.gov.uk/citizenscode
All nominations should be submitted by 30th September 2011.
