Burglars are increasingly targeting open or unlocked doors and windows to enter people’s homes, particularly in the summer months.

Police officers are reminding all householders to get into a routine of locking and securing their property.
Shut and lock all doors and windows and remember to set your house alarm.

When you are in the house keep your front door locked as thieves often target unlocked front doors looking for handbags or car keys.

Whilst the number of burglaries continues to fall, you can still make it harder for thieves to commit these offences.

Several recent prison sentences have been handed out by courts against local house burglars. Three individuals are to serve a total of ten years (two offenders will serve four years each with a third offender serving two years).

Reducing house burglary remains a priority for Cleveland Police and you can do your bit to help by securing your home and property.
