Electricity Meters Scam

RESIDENTS are being warned about gangs still trawling the country offering people with pre-payment electricity meters ‘discount top-ups’.

Criminals have been offering top-ups for a lot less than they would pay through authorised outlets. Typically, they get £50 credit for £25.

After using a cloned key in the electricity meter, it looks like the person has bagged a deal as the extra credits immediately show up, but it’s only after the crook has left – taking the key with them – that it turns sour.
