We have agreed to help Boro Becks in a programme of beck cleanings.
Over four Wednesdays in March, four of the becks which run through the town and meet the river Tees will be targeted. We are looking for volunteers to don their boots and jackets and lend a hand.
The becks play host to a rich variety of wildlife including birds such as jays and woodpeckers and mammals including otters and hedgehogs.
The Middlesbrough becks are also nationally recognised as a habitat for the endangered water vole. On top of that they boast great footpaths for walking, cycling and food foraging.
