Digging in to Build a Brighter Future
A MIDDLESBROUGH estate will soon be starting the next phase of its massive revamp thanks to the town's largest landlord.
Erimus Housing has launched its new project to build 40 new homes for rent and shared ownership on the former St Francis School site in Whinney Banks.
Erimus is building 16 two bedroom bungalows for rent, including one for a disabled tenant and four three bedroom houses which will also be for rent.
The money also means a further 20 bungalows for shared ownership will be built, meaning people can buy part of a property and rent the rest.
Residents have been at the heart of developing the specification for the homes, which will feature ensuite bathrooms, utility rooms and private parking.
The scheme, which will be complete next year, is being part funded by Erimus Housing's regulator, the Housing Corporation and will help complement the extensive regeneration of central Whinney Banks being led by West Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Trust.
Bob Brady, Chair of Erimus Housing's board, said: "We are proud to announce this new development scheme which will provide 40 affordable homes for people in Middlesbrough."
