Love At First Site
MIDDLESBROUGH'S largest landlord opened the doors to a new stage in the regeneration of the town on Valentine's Day.
Erimus Housing unveiled its very first new homes on 14th February, on Ravendale Road in Priestfields.
The exciting project has seen the building of four properties that have become the prototype for future development schemes for the housing association.
Two three bedroom houses and two two bedroom bungalows have been built during the project, which started in July last year.
Erimus Housing has invested around £400,000 developing the properties, which have been designed to the highest standard, featuring ensuite bathrooms, utility rooms and private parking.
The properties were designed by architects P&HS, project managed by Elliott Dent and built by Kendall Cross.
Erimus Housing currently owns more than 11,000 homes, which were transferred from Middlesbrough Council in November 2004.
The new properties will be rented out as Erimus Housing begins its next new build project, developing 40 new homes for rent and shared ownership at St Francis Close in Whinney Banks.
Bob Brady, Chair of Erimus Housing's board, said: "I am delighted to open the first new homes for Erimus Housing. When we transferred the stock from Middlesbrough Council, our first priority was to modernise and improve existing homes to fulfil our promises to tenants.
"We also knew that tenants wanted us to build new homes to replace those that have been demolished, and to provide accommodation that we are desperately in need of, such as two bedroom bungalows.
"Our new homes have been designed with tenants' priorities in mind. Our residents have been at the heart of developing the specification and we are proud of the quality and design of each one.
"This marks a new phase for Erimus Housing - we are providing new homes in places people want to live and helping to regenerate our communities and the town as a whole.
"We are looking forward to developing more new homes in the near future for existing and new tenants."
