Consultation Becomes Mobile!

Rok, Ermius Building Services and Dunelm Property Services are travelling out and about with Erimus Housing's mobile exhibition unit

PARTNERS working to deliver a £105m home improvement programme across Middlesbrough are hitting the road to consult with residents.

Rok, Erimus Building Services and Dunelm Property Services are travelling out and about with Erimus Housing’s mobile exhibition unit (MEU) to give tenants their chance to find out about the work.

Erimus is beginning the second year of a five-year programme which will see £17m spent on modernising homes in year two alone. And as effective consultation is key to the success of the major scheme, tenants are being invited to the MEU to find out what’s on offer.

Geoff Prior, Erimus’ Head of Programmed Investment, said: “The mobile exhibition unit is an excellent facility to consult with tenants. It gives the contractors’ staff an opportunity to meet the residents and allay any initial concerns that they may have.”

Work carried out during the programme includes, where needed, new kitchens, bathrooms, central heating, rewiring, doors and windows.

Initial consultation with residents is organised with the use of the MEU parked near to their homes, where tenants who will soon be affected by the works are invited to an open day.

Representatives from Rok, Dunelm Property Services and Erimus Building Services, who are experienced in delivering modernisation work, staff the unit and provide residents with advice on the impending home improvements.

At a later date, residents are invited to the unit again for a choice day, where staff from the contactor’s customer care team are on hand to answer any queries and to advise residents over the choice of fittings available.

Mr Prior added: “Since its introduction, the MEU has been a great success. We have received many complimentary comments from tenants, particularly on the range of home improvement choice made available and the explanatory DVD and brochures issued to residents as part of the consultation.”
