Insurance Scheme Hits Milestone

A MIDDLESBROUGH couple helped celebrate reaching a special milestone when they signed up to a housing organisation’s scheme.
Joseph and Mary Hill became the 500th customers to sign up for Erimus Housing’s tenants contents insurance.
The couple, from Beechwood, joined up to the scheme just weeks ago when they moved into their new home.
And they were awarded a special hamper stocked full of gifts for helping Erimus reach the landmark.
Mrs Hill said: “We have been with Middlesbrough Council and then Erimus Housing for a long time so this is very nice.
“We think it is very important to have contents insurance for your home.”
The scheme is open to all Erimus Housing tenants and leaseholders for as little as £1.89 a week or £1.26 for over 60s or residents of sheltered or supported housing.
Benefits of the insurance plan include easy and affordable payments, no excess on any claim and no prejudice against high-risk areas.
Residents can choose to pay however suits them, weekly, monthly or yearly by allpay card, direct debit or standing order.
Next year, even accidental damage to computer equipment will be included, at no extra cost.
Gill McPoland, who runs the scheme, said: “I am delighted the scheme is going well and that the hamper went to a very deserving couple.”
