Homechoice Opens It's Doors

ERIMUS Housing has launched an exciting new one-stop shop to benefit its tenants across Middlesbrough.

Homechoice, a brand new facility situated on Corporation Road, has opened today (Thursday 3rd November).

The resource has been created with tenants and leaseholders in mind but anyone wanting more information on Erimus Housing’s services can pop into the town centre building.

The facility plays home to an impressive variety of services, including the Enforcement Team Manager, Community Kids project, Tenants Contents Insurance, Warden Services, Repairs Hotline, Housing Advice Service and Disabled Persons Housing Service.

Erimus Housing resident Lily French said: “It is an excellent idea. It is on a bus route and in the town centre. It has a nice helpful atmosphere and I hope people will take the chance to go in.

“Not only will it attract older people, it will attract young people wanting housing as well.”

The Homechoice team, Erimus Housing’s new choice based lettings scheme experts, is also based in the facility.

The new-look scheme, also launched today, replaces the points-based allocation scheme and has been created especially for tenants who want to move.

It means people can look for a home of their own choice rather than waiting for a property someone else thinks is suitable and Erimus Housing is the first housing organisation in the Tees Valley to launch a choice based lettings scheme.

Available properties are advertised on the Homechoice website at www.homechoicemiddlesbrough.co.uk, in the Homechoice property shop or at any Erimus housing office.

Details on homes for rent will also be shown in Homemaker, the property section of the Evening Gazette on a fortnightly basis.

Edna Donnelly, Vice-Chair of the Board for Erimus Housing, said: “This has been created with our customers in mind and we hope it will provide an added service for them.

“Homechoice will ensure people can easily access a variety of services and staff members with a range of expertise in one place.”
