Clean up operation to boost estate
A MIDDLESBROUGH community at the heart of regeneration plans has been given a fresh look by the town’s largest landlord.
Erimus Housing has acted on concerns raised by residents in Grove Hill to give their quality of life an immediate boost. The organisation is working with Middlesbrough Council on a masterplanning exercise to revamp the run-down area.
And during a recent consultation exercise carried out with Erimus Housing residents in Kilton, Kendal, Bolton, Brough and Deal Courts, residents highlighted a number of environmental problems.
These included overgrown trees and shrubs that they feared could become hiding places for troublesome youths.
Erimus Housing then decided to work with the Wildlife Trust to carry out some urgent clean-up activities in the area.
Resident Derek Willoughby said: “I am really pleased with the work. It will really help the elderly people in the area feel safer.”
Work started on Thursday 2nd March and included cutting back shrubs, tree pruning, hedge cutting and general clean-up work.
Chris Smith, Director of Regeneration, added: “We are developing an action plan in response to residents’ wishes. This clean-up action is the first of many things that the residents of Grove Hill will see rolled out over the coming weeks and months."
