Tenants Join Board to Give Direction

TWO newly recruited residents are helping shape Erimus Housing for the future.

Following a recent recruitment drive, Michelle Tierney and Pam McIvor have been appointed onto the company’s board.

The duo will now play a vital role in determining how the Middlesbrough-based landlord and developer provides services and moves forward as a business.

Mike Carr, Chair of the Board, said: “Tenants are a vital part of the make-up of the Board and we are pleased to welcome Michelle and Pam, whose input is essential to the continuing success of the company.

“They have both been tenants for a number of years and have vast experience on our estates; we’re sure their knowledge will be invaluable.”

Michelle, 32, lives in Pallister Park and has been a tenant since 2000 while 45-year-old Pam lives in Whinney Banks and has been a tenant since 1999.

Michelle, a mum to ten-year-old Keeley, is particularly interested in community issues and housing policies and was previously a member of the Stronger Together in East Middlesbrough Steering Group.

She has a BSc (Hons) degree in death investigation from Teesside University and her hobbies include travelling, reading and learning Spanish.

Michelle said: “I strongly believe that the views of tenants should be at the heart of Erimus Housing's decision making, in order to achieve the best outcomes for both the company itself and for the local communities it serves.”

Pam, whose 20-year-old daughter is at university, enjoys playing pool for Cleveland County and is a regional director for the England Pool Association.

She wants to help move the company in the right direction for both tenants and staff and is looking forward to seeing the business from all sides, not just as a tenant.

Pam added: “I look forward to working with Michelle and the board in all areas of the business. I am interested in national housing policies and how these will affect both the company and tenants. I will endeavour to be a good ambassador for tenants and Erimus Housing.”

The board member role is to ensure individually and collectively that Erimus Housing is managed efficiently and effectively by taking part in discussions and decision-making and ensuring that Erimus follows the governance rules that are in place.

They are expected to attend all board meetings and any training events and to uphold the values, objectives and principles that Erimus Housing has agreed.
