Erimus Shortlisted for Prestigious Award

MIDDLESBROUGH-based Erimus Housing has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award.

The company’s innovative Bohouse scheme has been shortlisted in the ‘boosting a local economy’ category in the national Regeneration and Renewal Awards for its innovative Bohouse development.

Bohouse is a state-of-the-art development in Middlesbrough which provides 20 vital live/work units for graduates from the creative and digital industries, enabling them to stay in the area and start up businesses of their own.

The scheme is part of the Boho Zone which forms part of the acclaimed DigitalCity development, a new creative quarter in the heart of the town.

Bohouse is one of the first of its kind in the UK, with each apartment having at least one bedroom and a living area with kitchen and bathroom, as well as a workspace.

Potential tenants need to apply for an interview and make a proposal to show how their work is involved with the digital media sector and how they can fit into the DigitalCity network.

Mike Carr, Chair of the Erimus Housing board, said: “We are really proud of the Bohouse scheme and the way it is providing a vital role in regenerating the wider Boho Zone.

“It is great to be shortlisted for the award as it is an external endorsement of the success of Bohouse.”

In another coup for the company, Chris Smith, Managing Director of Erimus Housing, is also in the running for an award in the ‘social housing champion of the year’ category in the Sustainable Housing Awards 2011.

Chris was shortlisted for her campaign to make housing more sustainable across the group, as well as the North East region as a whole.

The awards ceremonies take place in London later in the year.
