New Homes at Ravendale Road, Priestfields
Our first new build project was creating four new properties consisting of two two bedroom bungalows and two three bedroom houses using the latest modern methods of construction and high levels of insulation at Ravendale Road, Priestfields.
Each house and bungalow was built to a slightly different layout and design, which allowed us to 'test' the desighn and specification of the houses and bungalows. This was an important first step for Erimus towards providing new high quality accommodation.
We carried out extensive consultation on the design of the bungalows with our residents, officers and stakeholders and asked them to consider four areas of the development in detail at a one day consultation event in February 2006. Each group looked at different design proposals which included internal and external features, fixtures and fittings and security. The feedback received at this event resulted in a number of elements of the designs being changed to accommodate the views of the community.
Invitations were then sent to surrounding tenants in Priestfields, the local residents' association and the Area 3 Housing Forum to visit our mobile exhibition unit on the site.
This consultation event allowed the revised plans and layout for the site to be looked at by the community. Feedback showed that tenants' main priorities were a home which has a well designed layout, a home which is safe and secure and a property which could be adapted over time to meet changing circumstances and families' requirements, making it a home for life.
The properties, which were completed in February 2007, were built by Kendall Cross andare designed and built to be energy efficient and have low running costs.
We invited 140 people to come and see the finished houses and bungalows at Ravendale Road and give us their feedback. This was overwhelmingly positive with an average of 88% of visitors rating the development as ‘very good’ for all criteria.
