ST PAUL’S ROAD, NEWPORT – PLANS FOR THE FUTURE

Erimus Housing is proposing to build a new development in Newport on the sites of Mallory Close, Gower Close and Milton Court. These blocks are being demolished following a specialist study of these unpopular, problematic flats. The proposed new development will include two apartment blocks, as well as two and three bedroom family houses and bungalows for rent, shared ownership and sale.

At consultation events, local residents were asked to come along and express their views, inlcuding looking at the design and construction of the proposed development. We received some very positive feedback from the community and all the comments on the proposal were carefully considered when finalising the design.

Using state-of-the-art contemporary designs, this new development will compliment the regeneration of the town area and provide affordable quality homes where people want to live. Furthermore, all of our new properties are designed to minimise waste and to work in balance with the environment. This means lower running costs compared to traditional homes, and a more eco- friendly way of living.

Each home built at Newport will have a well designed kitchen and bathroom, large double glazed windows giving plenty of natural light and ventilation, along with good security and excellent storage space.  On-site parking and additional parking facilities for apartment accommodation will be designed to create off road parking within the boundaries of individual properties. This will improve access and security throughout the estate.

The planning application for the new scheme was submitted to Middlesbrough Council in February 2008 and it is expected that construction will start in the summer of 2008, lasting around 18 months.  Milton Court has recently been demolished and Mallory and Gower Close will be demolished by our demolition partner MGL shortly.

Dunhelm Property Services has been appointed by Erimus Housing to build the development at St Paul’s Road in Newport. Now that we have planning approval we will also register the development with Considerate Constructors – a scheme which monitors the building site to ensure disruption to locals is minimised.

The proposals for Newport include housing for rent, shared ownership and sale, to create a truly sustainable community. Anyone interested in buying or renting should call 01642 773600 for further details.
