Netherfields High Rise
MODERNISATION BOOST FOR HIGH-RISE RESIDENTS
Following the Board decision in August 2007, Erimus Housing is set to revamp the unpopular, problematic high-rise blocks of flats in Netherfields. As part of Erimus Housing's vision, we are spending £3.3m refurbishing Welton House, with 90 flats receiving a major facelift as part of our aim to regenerate the area.
Tenants from Glentworth House and Fulbeck House are moving from their homes permanently and the blocks will be demolished as a result of feedback from our residents. The decision follows months of consultation which started last year when tenants in each of the blocks were asked their views of their home, environment and security. Concerns from our residents highlighted problems within each of the blocks, which were suffering from high levels of anti-social behaviour and were becoming increasingly difficult to let.
Now the planned improvements in Welton House will include new kitchens, bathrooms, and rewires with all windows benefiting from new double glazed units. The communal area and entrance will also be modernised to 21st Century standards creating a relaxed contemporary environment.
Due to the extensive nature of the modernisation, all our existing tenants will be moved from Welton House on a temporary basis. It is anticipated work will start in June 2008 and will take approximately 12 months (subject to the block being emptied).
Modernising Welton House to a high standard will provide good quality accommodation in the area for many years to come.
